Coverage and payouts
A straight-up bet covers one number and pays 35:1 profit. A split covers two adjacent numbers and pays 17:1; a street covers three and pays 11:1. A corner covers four and pays 8:1, while a six-line covers six and pays 5:1.
Dozens and columns cover twelve numbers and pay 2:1. Red/black, odd/even and low/high cover eighteen numbers and pay 1:1. All these figures exclude the returned stake. The American first-five bet covers 0, 00, 1, 2 and 3 and pays 6:1.
French sector bets are groups of ordinary bets. Voisins uses nine units, Tiers six and Orphelins five. They are not equal stakes on every number in the sector: some numbers receive overlapping or double coverage.

Profit excludes the original stake. The total return includes it. For example, a winning 10-chip single-number bet returns 360 chips: 350 profit plus the 10-chip stake. On French even-money bets, zero returns 5 of a 10-chip stake; that is a partial loss, not a win.
