Acting later gives you more information

The dealer button moves clockwise after each hand. In a table with three or more players, the next two active seats post the small and big blinds. After the flop, action begins with the first active player left of the dealer.

Early positions act with little information about other players. The dealer usually acts last after the flop and can observe checks, bets and calls before deciding. Position changes the information available, not the strength of your cards.

Heads-up is different: the dealer is the small blind and acts first preflop, but last on later streets. Watch the dealer and blind markers as the button moves.
